The most important monument of the city of Taormina is the Greek-Roman Theatre, second largest after that of Syracuse, but unique and invaluable to the feelings that can arouse the visitor. The theater is now home to artistic and cultural events of international importance. But Taormina also offers a beautiful sea. From the center you can reach the beautiful beaches overlooking the Ionian Sea, with angles of unique beauty: Giardini Naxos, Mazzaro and Isola Bella, the latter declared a nature reserve and a site of historical and artistic interest.

The millennial history of Giardini Naxos is well summarized in the Archaeological Museum and the nearby park, where you can admire the evocative remains of the ancient Naxos, including parts of the walls, ruins of houses and the foundations of a large temple.
Giardini Naxos offers tourists beautiful well-equipped beaches ideal for spending lazy days and fun. The food, as in most places in Sicily, is rich and flavorful, are enhanced the flavors of local seafood and desserts and pastry at her masters are the aromas of almond and citrus fruits. Definitely do not miss a rejuvenating and refreshing almond granita. Giardini Naxos can easily be reached in less than half an hour from our hotel.

Gole dell’Alcantara

Gole of Alcantara must be seen from lovers of unspoiled nature and trails. They are close to Francavilla di Sicilia, in the Alcantara Valley where flows the river of the same name. The Alcantara River has created a valley along its course which is a unique geological landscapes in the world. The Alcantara River owes its fame to its special lava formations visible today in different sections of its course. From the encounter between water and fire come to life a landscape of stunning beauty became a place of great attraction.

Acicastello and Acitrezza

Two other wonders of our Ionian coast are Aci Castello and Acitrezza, fishing villages surrounded by myth and legend. The castle of Aci Castello is made with black lava rock. This Norman fortress is perched on a cliff over the sea. From the top you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Faraglioni of the Cyclops.
Aci Trezza was also the country in which Giovanni Verga set his famous novel “The Medlar Tree” (1881) and in which, in 1948, was filmed the movie “The Earth Trembles” by Luchino Visconti and Antonio Pietrangeli, made with non-professional actors inhabitants of the place.
Acitrezza became animated seaside resort, a tourist destination thanks to the beauty of the marine environment. Aci Trezza is a fishing center of ancient and remarkable tradition, famous for its unique landscape. The view of Aci Trezza is dominated by rocks of the Cyclops eight picturesque basaltic rocks which, according to legend, were thrown by Polyphemus to Ulysses during his escape.
